Very peaceful dwarf cichlid which can be kept in a community tank with most other peaceful fish. Nannacara anomala, or most commonly known as ‘golden dwarf cichlid’ in the trade is generally regarded as an excellent beginner’s fish.
Attractive, hardy and is usually quite cheap to purchase, this species is naturally a micropredator which forages for worms, insects and other invertebrates in the wild. It should take dry food, in which case a meaty cichlid pellet should be fed as staple food – just make sure that its diet is supplemented with both vegetative matter (vegetable or spirulina flakes or small pieces of cucumber) and frozen or live food (of which it will prefer bloodworm and brine shrimp).
Fish Size Guide:
The ‘Maximum Size’ outlined below is the length this fish can reach as a full grown adult. For the actual size please use the select menu above.
Discus.ae prefers younger stock for their better ability to adapt to new water parameters and higher tolerance against transport. On rare occasions you may receive larger specimens when small fish are unavailable, however the smallest should be expected unless the size is noted as “Large” or “Adult”.
