The Chocolate Gourami is an uncommon species which adds a beautiful and unique choice for calm aquascapes and biotope aquariums.
This slow moving species prefers dim lights or aquariums that contain shaded areas (such as plants and driftwood), a quiet environment with small peaceful tank mates is important and to avoid large water changes or strong filter flow which causes the Chocolate Gourami stress. Catappa leaves and black water extract (available at Discus.ae) creates an ideal soft water condition with tannins for this fish which originates from peat swamps and black water streams in Borneo and Malaysia.
Upon initial introduction the Chocolate Gourami may refuse dried food such as flakes or pellets and would prefer live Artemia, Daphnia, or frozen worms instead until it settles and learn to accept a regular diet with time.

The ‘Maximum Size’ outlined below is the length this fish can reach as a full grown adult. For the actual size please use the select menu above.
Discus.ae prefers younger stock for their better ability to adapt to new water parameters and higher tolerance against transport. On rare occasions you may receive larger specimens when small fish are unavailable, however the smallest should be expected unless the size is noted as “Large” or “Adult”.
