The Gertrudae Rainbowfish, also known as Spotted Blue-Eye or Gertrude’s Rainbow, is a beautiful small sized variety of the blue-eye rainbowfish which thrives in very large schools in areas with dense vegetation making it an ideal candidate for a planted aquarium. It is peaceful with other species of similar size and can even be kept with adult dwarf shrimp. As with many rainbowfish, darker substrate will also often result to better colouration. Females are smaller with shorter fins and more golden in color tone.
This variety of the Pseudomugil species is compatible with many of our other larger fish, including our Stendker discus in larger planted aquariums, however we only recommend keeping it with similar sized tank mates.
Fish Size Guide:
The ‘Maximum Size’ outlined below is the length this fish can reach as a full grown adult. For the actual size please use the select menu above.
Discus.ae prefers younger stock for their better ability to adapt to new water parameters and higher tolerance against transport. On rare occasions you may receive larger specimens when small fish are unavailable, however the smallest should be expected unless the size is noted as “Large” or “Adult”.
