Clown loaches are a highly popular and peaceful bottom dweller which grows large and well known for its ability to eliminate pest snails from appearing in an aquarium.
The clown loach, or tiger botia, is a tropical freshwater fish belonging to the botiid loach family. It is the sole member of the genus Chromobotia. It originates in inland waters in Indonesia on the islands of Sumatra and Borneo. It is a popular fish in the freshwater aquarium trade and is sold worldwide.
In nature, they are often found in large aggregations and in captivity will often pack into a single nook, cranny or cave when at rest, so a group of 5 to 6 specimens is the recommended minimum.
